The Mutamix is equipped with six different buttons and seven LEDs. These are used for navigating around the variety of modes and menus of the module. There is a green LED below the X-MODE label to provide visual indication regarding whether X-MODE is enabled or disabled (lit when active). The Mutamix uses a tiny computer known as a micro controller. This micro controller is used to automate six VCA-based mutes, giving you remote control over the mutes via the MUTE CTRL inputs, as well as preset memory and sequential switch-like functions in X-MODE. The VCA mutes are controlled by a very short preset envelope generator, preventing clicks at high frequencies.
The Mutamix's channels and mix bus are created using analog circuitry that is designed to pass DC and audio signals. The signal path does not pass through an ADC or DAC, as only the analog VCA is controlled by an analog EG, providing a hybrid system of analog electronics under digital control.
X-MODE enables a variety of different functions for the CTRL inputs and buttons, accessible through the X-MODE "Menu." This menu is accessed with different button actions. Certain actions can be performed/controlled using the MUTE CTRL inputs, such as inverting current mutes, selecting random presets, or muting all. In X-MODE you can still access the Save To EEPROM function by holding button 1 until the green LED flashes. This results in the Mutamix starting up in X-MODE. The buttons in X-MODE can be played like a keyboard or programmer, with each button selecting its corresponding preset. To get the best out of X-MODE, save your various presets in MAIN mode first, and then enter X-MODE.
