The Ibanez GBSP10 George Benson is designed for those who – like Benson himself - like to explore the more vibrant and upbeat styles of jazz guitar. Hailing from the sound of a once-in-a-generation guitar legend, Benson’s sound was a juiced up, lively one and his reputation as a phenomenal blues soloist is translated through the style of his signature guitar.
Complete with GB custom pickups, you’ll have unfettered access to a truly classic sound, without the irritating quirks. Thanks to the wonders of modern technology, you won’t have to worry about all the pesky drawbacks of a hollow bodied electrics. This is because the GB pickups are installed specially to float just above the body itself, helping to eliminate any feedback and further ensuring a gloriously vibrant and warm jazz tone.
The maple build is certainly a design aspect that points towards Benson’s sound. Lively, responsive and bright, the maple in the body and neck provides an enhanced resonance and unique tone that are suited perfectly to any style of blues or jazz but will truly thrive when pushed that little bit harder. What’s more, the flamed maple body provides a beautiful wood grain to the visual aesthetics which is subtly displayed even through the red wrap – bringing a classy, old-school look that simply never falls out of fashion.
