Key Features
It's time to get dirty. Real dirty. The Jackson Audio El Guapo Mateus Asato Signature Overdrive is one of the most dynamic, hard-working pedals you'll ever hear. With both a Drive and a Distortion channel, it gives you a huge spectrum of sound to play with – from light crunch to all-out crushing high gain.
Having developed more than 10 prototypes of this pedal, Jackson Audio have designed a masterpiece – and it shows. Each control is super responsive, dynamic, and intuitive, with two footswitches for changing channels. But there's plenty more to discover inside this powerful tone machine.

You have to hear it to believe it. The El Guapo was designed to mimic the tone and behaviour of a legendary amplifier. With a three-band EQ, it lets you shape each frequency with precision – and it'll always sound authentic. The Distortion channel is incredibly dynamic, with four presets which range from classic, vintage-style gain to super high gain madness. And the Drive channel matches this, unlocking a wealth of softer overdriven tones. It also boasts four presets, which include symmetric and asymmetric clipping options. You can use the Volume, Tone, and Drive dials to shape this channel to suit your tastes. It's like having an amp at your feet.
Think you need to stick to one gain setting? Think again. One of the most unique aspects of this pedal is its gain cycle feature. This allows you to manipulate the built-in gain by pressing both footswitches simultaneously. Press them once, and it'll utilise 25 percent of your current gain level (set by the Gain dial), press them twice and you'll jump to 50 percent. Press them four times and you'll be unleashing the full fury of your chosen gain setting – perfect for screeching solos and fat, chunky, hard hitting rhythm chops. With this feature, you can build different levels of intensity in your music at the push of a button.
All analogue circuitry. An array of control dials. And a MIDI channel. Yes, you read it correct, the El Guapo Mateus Asato Signature Overdrive has a built-in MIDI channel – something most analogue pedals do not have. This makes it a super useful recording tool, and the MIDI channel itself is incredibly intuitive – access all the settings in a flash. Having a MIDI channel cements the El Guapo as a 21st Century masterpiece.
