MODFX is designed to provide you with the effects that aren't typically found in modular form for Eurorack synthesizers, making use of two often underused effects in Chorus and Flanger as well as the inclusion of a comprehensive filtering section. With internal programs of eight programs per bank, with three banks in total giving you a complete set of 24 programs, TipTop Audio MODFX is a highly versatile unit that can deliver a plethora of unique and interesting sounds.
Each program delivers a classic sound from staple effects racks or historic stompbox designs to produce immaculate soundscapes that can help transform simple and boring mono signals into wide, spacious and lush tones bursting with character and excitement.
An essential part for any electronic music producer, the chorus effect has been used throughout synthesizer history on many of the world's most revered units to produce their signature sounds. Included in MODFX is a highly versatile set of chorus programs that can go anywhere from subtle thickening to wild and esoteric detuning.
With a wide variety of chorus programs to navigate, the MODFX is the ultimate sound designer tool to help you find your sonic signature and discover your voice. There's no limit to the number of unique styles you can apply to your music to lift it above the rest and stand out from the crowd. Styles such as Vintage Random Vibrato allow you to add random modulation of the pitch between the left and right channels to create a wobbly, warped chorus effect that thickens up your signal for a massive sound across the frequency and spatial spectrum. Classic studio sounds from vintage rack units are included such as the staple Dimension sound. This works by adding two lines of delay, modulated by a single LFO, making it ideal for more delicate sources such as guitar or strings.
With the Flange effect, you take advantage of modulating delay times between the source signal to create a wash of sound that has similar effects to the Haas effect of a moving vehicle. Using flange within electronic music is the ideal companion for creating space-age textures that wash over your music to bring the listener in and grab their attention.
Not limited to simply creating a blanket over your entire signal, TipTop Audio MODFX can produce the Karplus effect, whereby using a delay line with feedback, you can emulate the sound of various plucked or struck acoustic sounds. Using the Karplus effect on a percussive sound such as a drum, to create a pitched effect. Additionally, you can create chords from a single percussive note with up to three tuned delays, that can go between major, minor, augmented and even diminished intervals.
Expertly designed, TipTop Audio MODFX doesn't utilise traditional high and low pass filters but instead uses a set of modulated filters and band-pass filters. Due to the nature of the filtering within MODFX, you can create basic mono 12-stage phasers and dual four and eight-stage phasers thanks to the bandpass filtering. Doing this will allow you to add between four, eight and 12 notches to your signal for an increasing number of filters to create a deeper and more modulated sound.
