Six keyboards in one compact instrument
The reface CP puts six distinct keyboard types within easy reach, giving you a focused collection of sounds drawn from several eras. Choose the RdI for an early '70s tine electric piano character or RdII for its late '70s counterpart.
The Wr recreates a late '60s reed electric piano, while Clv provides the struck-string response associated with '70s Clavinets. You can also switch to a toy piano or Yamaha's CP80 electric grand piano sound. SCM and AWM2 sound generation handle the tonal detail, while 128-note polyphony keeps sustained chords and busy passages sounding complete as you play.
Shape your sound without menu diving
Hands-on effects make it straightforward to give each keyboard sound its own character. Drive adds harmonics and distortion, while Tremolo provides movement, with Auto-Pan available for the Rd sounds. You can also use VCM Wah, Chorus, VCM Phaser, Digital or Analog-Type Delay, and Reverb.
Adjustable parameters include depth, rate, speed, delay time, and other controls depending on the selected effect. Each keyboard type is paired with carefully chosen Drive and Tremolo settings, giving you a useful starting point before making your own adjustments. With direct controls available, you can change your effects quickly while playing rather than working through layered menus.
Responsive keys keep playing expressive
A compact keyboard still needs to feel comfortable under your fingers. The reface CP uses 37 HQ mini keys, developed around the FS action found on Yamaha's Motif XF. Initial Touch provides responsive control, helping your playing translate naturally into the instrument's electric piano sounds.
Sustain is supported through a dedicated pedal input, so you can connect compatible Yamaha FC3(A), FC4(A), or FC5 pedals. Half-damper operation is also available when an FC3(A) is connected. This gives you more control over sustained passages while retaining the reface CP's space-saving 530mm-wide design and manageable 1.9kg weight (excluding batteries).
Play and connect wherever suits you
The reface CP is designed to work away from a fixed keyboard setup. Two 2W amplifiers drive a pair of 3cm speakers, while bass reflex port technology helps strengthen the low-end response. Six AA batteries provide approximately five hours of operation, giving you a practical cable-free option for playing and writing.
For larger setups, dual 6.3mm unbalanced outputs connect to mixers, audio interfaces, DI boxes, and other equipment. USB TO HOST provides MIDI connectivity with compatible computers or iOS devices, while MIDI IN/OUT is available through mini-DIN. There is also a 3.5mm AUX input for external audio sources and a 6.3mm stereo headphone connection for private practice.
