Professional control and intuitive workflow
The Allen & Heath QU-7D is designed for engineers and venues that need high-end performance with hands-on control. Its 7” capacitive touchscreen puts a responsive, menu-free interface at your fingertips. You can view meters, adjust channel settings, and manage effects directly from the main display without needing to dive through multiple menus. Combined with 33 motorised faders and assignable channel layers, the QU-7D allows fast navigation between different mix configurations. You also get 8 SoftKeys that you can assign for specific tasks like tap tempo, mute groups or scene changes.
This setup makes it easy to adapt the mixer for different users or roles. House engineers can store scene presets, while guest engineers can quickly recall their own workflow. Every feature is designed to minimise setup time and reduce distractions during performance. It’s ideal for multi-user environments like theatres, hire fleets, conference venues and houses of worship, where clarity and speed are crucial.
Seamless Dante integration
The QU-7D includes a built-in 16x16 Dante interface, offering direct compatibility with Dante-enabled audio networks. You can send and receive 16 channels of digital audio over standard Ethernet cables, removing the need for analog multicore or breakout boxes. This simplifies setups for installations, live events and studio environments, especially where devices are spread out or need to be easily relocated. It's ideal for venues already using Dante to distribute audio across multiple rooms or between front-of-house and broadcast stations.
You can also integrate the QU-7D with Dante stageboxes, amplifiers, speaker processors, or recorders. Everything runs on a single cable, which cuts down on clutter and improves reliability. For engineers working in modern infrastructures, the built-in Dante connection reduces the need for external Dante cards or format converters. It’s plug-and-play compatible and supports sample rates of 48kHz and 96kHz, offering flexibility for a wide range of audio environments.
Powerful 96kHz processing
At the core of the QU-7D is Allen & Heath’s XCVI 96kHz FPGA engine, delivering ultra-low latency and premium audio quality. This engine provides the speed and precision needed for detailed EQ, dynamic processing, and FX routing in high-pressure live sound situations. With 36 inputs to mix, including 32 mono and 2 stereo channels, the QU-7D handles everything from full band mixes to complex presentation setups. You also get 12 mixes and 4 matrices, giving you the flexibility to manage separate outputs for monitors, zones, or recording feeds.
The built-in Automatic Mic Mixer (AMM) is ideal for speech applications, helping you manage multiple open microphones while reducing background noise and phase issues. The system is especially useful for panel discussions, corporate events or worship services. Combined with the mixer’s powerful FX engine and available add-ons, such as DEEP processing and RackExtra FX, you get a robust mixing platform capable of handling a wide range of live and broadcast audio demands.
Flexible expansion and control options
The QU-7D offers wide connectivity and control options through its intelligent SLink port, which allows expansion using Allen & Heath’s range of 48kHz and 96kHz I/O hardware. This includes dSnake and DX expanders, letting you scale up your system as needed. You can place remote stageboxes up to 100m away over standard Cat5 cabling, simplifying installation and keeping cable runs clean. This makes it easier to adapt the mixer for different venues, stage layouts or system sizes.
Control is equally flexible. You can manage the QU-7D using MixPad or 4You apps, available for Windows, macOS, iOS and Android. These apps provide remote access to channel faders, EQ, FX, and mix routing, which is great for walking the room during soundcheck or adjusting monitor levels from stage. The mixer also supports footswitch control and has a 12V lamp socket for low-light environments. You can switch between desk and remote operation as needed, without compromising access to key functions.
Reliable multitrack recording and playback
For engineers and producers who need solid recording options, the QU-7D provides both SD card and USB-C multitrack functionality. You can record up to 32 channels directly to a USB-C drive at 48kHz, or up to 16 channels at 96kHz to SD card. This is ideal for live recordings, multitrack archiving, or creating rehearsal backups without needing a laptop or external interface. Playback functions are also available, allowing you to run backing tracks or virtual soundchecks straight from the media.
The USB-A port can also be used for stereo recording and file transfer. This versatility makes the QU-7D a strong choice for venues or engineers who need reliable capture without additional gear. Files are recorded in standard WAV format, making it easy to transfer projects into any DAW for post-production. With multiple ways to record and play back audio, the QU-7D makes it easy to manage shows, rehearsals, and recording sessions in one self-contained system.
