Key Features
Benefitting from the sonic qualities of analog equipment, the 5000R8 uses reference-class AD/DA conversion to allow you to use 500 series modules directly with your DAW. Equally great for live environments, performances can be mixed with all your 500 series modules through the powerful headphone amp.
A monitor control and talkback feature further enhance the capabilities on the 500R8. A range of connectivity options make the 500R8 extendable via ADAT. The C.A.S.T connection on the rear of the unit could also revolutionise the way you transmit audio around your studio.

The 500R8 allows you to create your ideal production unit. With room for up to eight 500 series units, you can combine preamps, compressors and EQs however you please.
Configurable up to eight 500 series units simultaneously, the 500R8’s front layout means that interchanging from tracking to mixing setup takes seconds. The dedicated source select switch means there is no need to re-patch to adjust signal routing from analog, C.A.S.T and USB sources through each module. This is ideal for testing different routing combinations from pre-amp to DAW.
With the 500R8 capable of connecting directly to your computer, this is a perfect unit for producers and engineers on the go. A reference class AD/DA convertor and internal clocking ensure no detail of your analog sources is missed. The result is the ability to seamlessly pass audio between analog and digital sources without various digital artefacts. For connection to other analog and digital hardware, an external convertor can be attached. Alternatively, for placement in a rack, dedicated TRS inserts are located on the rear of the 500R8.
The seamless combination of analog and digital continues with the built-in 28-in/30-out USB audio interface. Giving you access to your chosen DAW, recording and playback can be done directly through the 500R8. Having a built-in, USB audio interface is ideal for those working in smaller studies, removing the need for external equipment. A built-in monitor controller allows choice between two speaker sets, toggle mono sum, mute, dim and talkback capabilities.
Want to add analog character to your digital sources? With the 500R8 you are able to sum up to eight USB sources. These can then be manipulated with a range of 500 series components and recorded back into your DAW as a stereo track. Still building your 500 series collection? No problem. Unused 500 series slots can be bypassed, freeing up further anlaog paths for recording till you’ve added your next component.
Equally at home in a live environment, sources can be monitored live in the analog domain with zero latency. This is achieved with dedicated mic level and pan controls for each channel. All this can be monitored through Cranborne Audios high-powered headphone amps.
Should you run out of available recording channels, Cranborne Audio have you covered. Connecting to the 500ADAT means you have 16 channels of 500 series modules to work with for both recording and mixing. Alternatively, other ADAT compatible products can also be connected via ADAT to the 500R8. Providing you with 16 channels of 500 series channels to record through directly into your DAW. A host of connectivity options can be found on the back of the 500R8.
The integrated C.A.S.T system modernises audio cabling by allowing multiple signals to be sent through a shielded cat 5 cable. This plug and play solution simply requires you to connect the 500R8 to Cranborne Audio’s N22/N22H breakout box. By doing this, mic/line sources can be sent to the 500R8 whilst simultaneously sending monitor mixes (with talkback) the other way.
