ROTO-CONTROL features eight motorized touch-sensitive knobs, offering precise, hands-on control over your setup. The knobs are equipped with high-end brushless drone motors and Melbourne Instruments’ patented ultra-high-resolution optical sensors, delivering smooth operation with instant recall of parameters. Built for longevity, these knobs are rated for over 50 million cycles, significantly outperforming standard rotary controls.
Haptic feedback enhances the user experience, providing tactile confirmation of adjustments and improving workflow efficiency during live performances or studio work. The motorized knobs instantly adjust to stored values when switching between presets or software parameters, eliminating guesswork and keeping sessions flowing smoothly.
ROTO-CONTROL’s standalone MIDI mode provides flexible control over a wide range of MIDI-compatible devices, including hardware synths, DAWs, lighting systems, and media applications. Up to 64 MIDI setups can be stored on the unit, with each setup supporting 128 assignable controls across knobs and buttons. The ability to operate without a computer makes it a reliable choice for live performances and hardware-based workflows.
Users can import and export MIDI setups using the Roto-Setup app, making it easy to share configurations or back up projects. The inclusion of MIDI in/out/thru ports and USB-C connectivity ensures compatibility with a variety of devices, providing a simple and effective way to manage complex MIDI setups.
Designed for seamless use with Ableton Live, ROTO-CONTROL offers a hassle-free experience in MIX and PLUGIN modes. In MIX mode, it automatically syncs with Ableton Live, displaying track names and colours directly from the active Live Set. There’s no need for manual labelling, as everything updates in real time. This allows for quick navigation and adjustment of mix levels without losing focus on creativity.
PLUGIN mode enables users to learn and store plugin parameters on the device itself, making it easy to switch between computers or projects without having to remap settings. Up to 64 plugins can be assigned per track, with support for 128 controls per plugin, giving users complete control over their virtual instruments and effects.
The Motion Recorder feature adds an extra layer of creative control by allowing users to automate and loop MIDI parameters across external hardware and software. With the ability to record up to eight parameters per setup, users can experiment with step-based automation and playback modes such as forward, backward, random, and ping-pong.
Step lengths of 16, 32, 48, or 64 provide flexibility for creating evolving patterns and automation sequences. The Motion Recorder’s internal or external clock options ensure tight synchronization with other gear, making it a valuable tool for live performances and studio sessions alike.
